The withdrawal of world number 3 Jordan Spieth meant that Matt Kuchar gets the opportunity to play for his country in the forthcoming Rio Olympics.
All the top four golfers in the world have withdrawn from playing the Summer Olympics. The increase in the number of withdrawals by golfers is owing to the concerns about the Zika virus epidemic in Rio de Janeiro.
Matt Kuchar is happy that he has been chosen to play for his country in the Olympics and is not deterred by the Zika virus scar that has prevented many male golfers from taking part in the prestigious Summer Olympics. Kuchar always wanted to take part in the Olympics and his performance at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational helped him to move to the 15th ranking in the world. This laid the path for him to enter into the US Olympic squad contention. Only four golfers from the US would be able to compete for the team in Rio.

Therefore, when he speaks, others listen. During NBC's broadcast of Shell Houston Open, people saw the announcers ill treatment of Jim Herman in his pursuance for his very first PGA Tour win. There is no doubt that Herman is a journeyman; he fagged on the mini-tours for many years, taking an adjunct pro gig for some time before giving his dream another shot, finally becoming a PGA Tour rookie at the age of 33 in the year 2011.
Herman was still not a complete nobody. He registered 8 top-25 finishes in his last campaign. Nonetheless, the NBC crew -- especially Johnny Miller -- saw Herman like a D-III football team taking on Alabama Crimson Tide, along with the cadence that Herman was likely to choke rather than cross the finish line.

Matt Kuchar might not appear too much of goal-driven unlike his fellow peers in golf yet he makes it a point to get back to Kapalua to defend his title.
Kapalua plays the host of Hyundai Tournament of Champions that extends its invitations just to those golfers who have been PGA Tour winners last year. Matt is a huge fan of this Hawaiian island & he was there this February for a family holiday.
However, reserving a return ticket to this island for this tournament this January needed some patience. Matt finished in top 5 each of 3 weeks that led to his triumph at RBC Heritage 2015.
He had chances of victory at the finale of Houston, San Antonio & Augusta yet he posted pedestrian figures.
Thus, he was greatly relieved as he holed the bunker shot in 72nd hole in Harbour Town Golf Links- & the birdie gave him a last-round 64 & victory.
“Mostly you will find me with my upbeat smile”, stated Matt. “But it was much emotion, relief & excitement together when I took the hat off & came up with the huge fist pumped down to ground.” (more…)
