Watson withdraws from Bay Hill due to injuries

American golfer Bubba Watson was forced to withdraw after only the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational which was being played at Bay Hill, on Thursday. The golfer cited allergies as the reason for his withdrawal and it seems like some sort of a pollen reaction. Bubba Watson is a well known golfer in these parts as he hails from Isleworth in Windermere, which is not quite far. As a result, the withdrawal was a shock for his fans that were rooting for the home boy.

The American golfer shot 11- over 83 in the round which had a triple bogey at the par-4 18th, a birdie and an 11 at the par-5 sixth hole. Bubba Watson apologized to his fans on Twitter saying that he is sorry for his withdrawal and cited allergies to the reason that made him quite uncomfortable. The apology came within hours of the event and it was a relief for the fans who suspected some sort of injury.

At the sixth hole, Bubba was unable to play the right shot and ended up with three tee balls in the water and it is only in the seventh shot, that he managed to hit the right rough. But he again missed his hot on the eighth and eventually two – putted in the eleventh shot.

Watson explained in this twitter status that it was really difficult for him to concentrate as he was suffering from allergies and the doctors suspect the cause to be medicine and pollen. The allergy caused the seven times PGA tour winner to withdraw from the event for the first time and seriously damaged his title aspirations. Bubba Watson was making his ninth appearance at the Bay Hill event where his best ever finish has been a tied fourth which came in the year 2012.
